Yogurt and pomegranate dessert

You know that moment when you really feel like having something sweet and delicious, but no time or no mood to be in the kitchen for very long? Well this yogurt and pomegranate dessert will come to your rescue. It is utterly delicious and so fun to make. Serving it is best done in two beautiful glasses as that way you get to see all the ingredients. I mean; how good does this look right?

Making the yogurt and pomegranate dessert is super easy to do. You just need the following ingredients:

  • Honey (a beautiful clear variety is preferred)
  • Yogurt (thick greek yogurt is best)
  • Double cream or whipping cream
  • Rose water (optional)
  • Pomegranate seeds
  • Pistachio

You do not need to sweeten the whipping cream as the honey will make this dessert already fairly sweet. Adding sugar to the cream would make this too sweet. I love the flavor of the rosewater through the yogurt but if you do not like rosewater you can easily leave it out. It gives it that middle eastern flavor and smell!

Some frequently asked questions

Can I replace the yogurt in this dessert to make it lactose free?

Yes you can do that. If you want it lactose free replace the yogurt with coconut yogurt. Omit the whipping cream altogether and just use the coconut yogurt. That will be different but still delicious.

Does the honey have to be clear?

You can certainly use any type of honey for this recipe. I like to use a clear honey as it lets through the light, but any honey will work.

Can I prepare the dessert up front?

I wouldn’t recommend doing that. The ingredients might start to mingle in the glass if you let it sit for too long. But having said that; making the dessert only takes a few minutes so it’s usually fine to make it last minute for a dinner party.

Can I use other nuts?

If you do not like pistachio or find them too expensive you can replace for roasted almonds or roasted hazelnuts

  1. I like natural backgrounds too but every once in a while it’s lovely to see a splash of colour. This dessert is pretty colourful on top too!

  2. I think both photos are fine! I like the light shining through the honey in the top one, and the pink actually helps the topping pop a bit more in the second one (although it looks like the topping is lit maybe half a stop brighter, too — at least on my monitor). I’d have been delighted to have taken either one of the photos!
