These delicious stuffed jalapenos with ground meat are easy to make and the perfect snack. They could even serve as an appetizer for a dinner party.
Stuffed jalapenos with ground meat
If you’re looking for an easy snack to serve for Newyears or whatever other party than look no further. these stuffed jalapenos are something else. They’re spicy and go really well with a cold beer. Perfect also for a hot summer evening when you’re entertaining friends in the garden or on your balcony. (or in the park. You get the idea)
If you’ve seen the stuffed jalapeno poppers I posted earlier you might have thought it was a bit too much work to make. Well I have good news as these ones are easier and don’t require frying. You bake them simply in the oven.
Wear those gloves
As I have already mentioned on the other post, it is essential to wear kitchen gloves when you’re preparing the jalapenos. The juice of the jalapenos will make you suffer if you don’t. And don’t accidentally touch your face (or even worse, your eyes) while making them. You’re not gonna like it.
Once you’ve cleaned the jalapenos and placed them on the baking tray, it is time to create the filling. For that you start by frying the bacon until crisp. Remove from the pan and let it drain on paper towel. Bake the ground meat until done and mix with the spices.
Briefly mix
Now you want to add all the ingredients including the cream cheese to a small food processor and briefly turn so the meat and the cream cheese are well combined. This is your filling for the stuffed jalapenos. Fill it and then sprinkle with grated cheese over the top. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown and the jalapenos are cooked.
Serve with some extra bacon crumbs over the top.
Jalapenos stuffed with ground meat
Ingredients
- 10 jalapeno peppers
- 250 g ground beef
- 100 gr bacon diced
- 2 cloves garlic finely chopped or grated
- ½ onion finely chopped
- ½ tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika powder la Chinata; the sweet one
- 2 tbsp mascarpone
- 20 gr old cheese grated
- A few drops tabasco sauce
How to make the stuffed jalapenos
- Preheat oven at 150˚C (300˚F). Cut jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise, remove seeds and white membranes and place them next to each other on a baking plate lined with baking paper.
- Bake the diced bacon until crisp and then let dry on some kitchen paper
- Cook the ground meat, garlic and onion together with the paprika powder in a frying pan until it is brown. Remove the grease from the pan.
- Chop the bacon with a kitchenknife, so it becomes a crispy crumb.
- Blitz the ground meat mix briefly in a blender so it gets less coarse. Mix the cream cheese with the chili powder and 2/3 of the bacon crumb and add it to the meat. Make a well combined mixture.
- Scoop meat mixture into the jalapeno halves and top off with some grated cheese. Put in the oven for about 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with the remaining bacon crumb. Finish off by adding a drop of Tabasco on the centre of each Jalapeno and there is your spicy snack.
- Best buddies with a nice cold beer.
