Paleo dinner recipes
I first came into contact with paleo lifestyle about 15 years ago when I was a pretty new food blogger. I heard someone talk about the whole30 and curious person that I am I wanted to know more. And shortly after I did my first whole30. So that was my first encounter with paleo-friendly recipes. I started experimenting with how to eat if you would eat paleo and before I knew it I also got a job creating recipes and taking the photos for the Dutch Paleo magazine. Since then I have made around 500+ paleo recipes so you can probably say I know my way around the paleo lifestyle.
That said; I do not eat exclusively paleo anymore. I did for a while but for me healthy eating and a healthy lifestyle is a better approach and less restrictive. But since a lot of people have been asking me for my favorite paleo recipes that are suitable for dinner, I figured I’ll give you a quick list of my all time favorites. And because I do happen to still eat quite a lot of paleo based dinner recipes the list will grow naturally over time!

What is paleo?
To give a very short explanation of what paleo is; this is a lifestyle that is going by the idea that our bodies haven’t adapted to the modern day diet. And the food our ancestors ate was much better suited for our digestive system and so we should go back to the way our ancestors ate. Which is why it is also sometimes called the caveman diet.
In a paleo diet you eat the following ingredients:
- Vegetables
- Fruit
- Meat (poultry as well as red meats)
- Fish
- Healthy fats
- nuts, seeds and the like
You do not eat:
- grains and pseudo grains
- over processed foods
- sugar
- legumes
- dairy – no cheese either!
- potatoes – potatoes are a grey area as some people eat it and others don’t
For a lot of people this is quite a challenge but it can be quite simple. You can replace regular rice with cauliflower rice. Eat sweet potatoes instead of regular ones. Eat olive oil and coconut oil instead of sunflower oil, etc.
