Mushroom recipes are not only really delicious and versatile, but you can literally make hundreds of mushroom recipes from breakfast to lunch to dinner and hmm, maybe even dessert (don’t quote me on that, I have not yet tried a mushroom dessert except when using mushroom powder in brownies!)

You might consider mushrooms a fall ingredient and for some variaties that is definitely the better season, but mushrooms are available year round and because they are so versatile and delicious I thought I share my top 20 of favorite mushroom recipes.
How many edible mushrooms are there?
Well, that’s a good question. I quick search shows a number anywhere between 300 and 2000 different mushrooms that would be safe for human consumption. Apparently there are new species discovered every time plus there are differences in diet and research. Which makes me want to stick to the ones I know are edible for sure!
That said; 300 is still a huge number. How many mushrooms do you use? I have to confess I tend to stick to the more familiar ones that are available in the markets or grocery stores. But the good news is that more and more different species become available to the general public. Which is a good thing, but it doesn’t hurt to eat more of this super versatile ingredient. You can never have enough mushroom recipes!
