Halloween cheese ball

Ok, how cute do these Halloween cheese ball snacks look? They’re supposed to be monsters but I find them adorable little monsters… 🙂 As I am writing this the sun is shining brightly and for the time of year the weather is still pretty hot. For me the holiday season needs to be dark and gloomy. Snow preferably but if it doesn’t snow then I’m ok with rain and storm. I can be weird that way.. 😉

Of course end of October is a bit early for snow, at least in this part of the world so I’ll have to settle for the dark and gloomy part. So far it looks more like summer than autumn. Although they are predicting that it will be a really cold winter. I’m sure by the time it is January I’ll be wishing I had shut up about wanting cold and snow and all that.

How to make the halloween cheese ball snacks

While the list of ingredients is a bit longer than you might expect, these cute little monsters are really very easy to make. Most of the ingredients are for flavoring the cream cheese, so more or less optional. They would taste good no matter what you flavor it with.

You need a firm cream cheese, chives, some triangle shaped snacks and rep bell pepper for making the horns. You can use red chili pepper for this as well, but the halloween cheese balls will be a bit spicier if you do.

Rolling and dipping

First you season the cream cheese and mix it well. Then roll the cream cheese into small balls. Chop the chives finely and roll each Halloween cheese ball through the chopped chives. I used olive with a filling for the eyes but go wild here and use what you want. I also used sugar eyes at some point as well. While that might sound strange it was actually quite delicious.

Cut thin strips of the bell pepper and push it into the head of the cheese ball. Use the triangle snacks as bat wings. And you halloween cheese ball snacks are done!

For the snacks you can use something like small tortilla chips. Or break pieces of and have a more artistic pair of bat wings.

High cuteness level!

These little halloween cheese devils are super simple to make and have a very high ‘ahhhh’ level. They’re just so cute. And when you’re at it, make sure to save some extra cream cheese as it is delicious dipping the leftover chips into the cream cheese as well.
